In the past, you had to copy and paste from Yahoo Finance or another financial service, but at the moment, Microsoft offers a new way to add and update some stock information such as stock.

- To refresh stock data, do one of the following:
- On the Data tab, in the group Queries & Connections, click theRefresh All button:
- Right-click the stock data (cells with stock icon) andchoose Data Type -> Refresh in the popup menu:
- To fix or change the Stocks data type to the regular text,do the following:
- Select the data that you want to change (cells with stock icon).
- Right-click on the selection and choose Data Type -> Convert to Text in thepopup menu:
This converts the Stocks data type to the regular text, and all depended datadon't be shown anymore:To save all depended data, before converting the Stocks data type, do the following:- Select all depended data that you want to save, copy it to the Clipboard (byclicking the Copy button on the Home tab, in the Clipboard group,or by pressing Ctrl+C).
- On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click Paste, and thenselect one of the Paste Values buttons:
- Values (V): Pastes the results of formulas. The destinationfor the copy can be a new range or the original range. In the latter case,Excel replaces the original formulas with their current values
- Values & Number Formatting (A): - Pastes the resultsof formulas, plus the number formatting
- Values & Source Formatting (E): - Pastes the results offormulas, plus all formatting
- Stock information is delayed, provided 'as-is', and is not for trading purposes or advice.
- To work with stock information, you need to have an online access to the Internet and anappropriate version of MS Excel.
